A passion for technology and adventure has led Curtin University of Technology graduate Daniel Howell to accept a highly sought after position at Microsoft headquarters in the United States.
Daniel, who is a Curtin Computer Science 2007 graduate and worked as a technical support consultant during his studies, knows what it takes to achieve a dream. He believes the commitment of Curtin teaching staff provided the work ready skills he needed to secure the enviable position of Software Design Engineer at Microsoft in Redmond, Seattle.
“What set me apart from the other applicants is a good mix of technical skills and the ability to stay calm and confident. Throughout my course, various lecturers were passionate about making sure their students graduate with the fundamental skills required in the industry. Almost everything I was asked in the interview, I had covered at some point whilst at Curtin,” Daniel Howell said.
“I gained a great deal of valuable experience whilst at Curtin and the skills I developed in creative and analytical thinking allowed me to offer the right mix of technical skills, together with the ability to write code from the ground-up.”
“A huge part of every assignment was creatively thinking about a solution to a problem, and then making the solution happen with the skills learned through our coursework.”
